Somerset head coach Andy Hurry delighted to receive England recognition
Somerset head coach Andy Hurry is relishing the challenge of taking charge of the England team taking part in the Hong Kong Sixes later on this month.
It will mark the second time that Hurry has been recognised by the England hierarchy, having gone to the Middle East earlier this year as Andy Flower’s assistant when the national side beat Pakistan in a Twenty20 and one-day international series.

Hurry will fly out with the rest of the squad on October 24 and, after a day and half to practise, the competition will commence.
“This is a very fast form of the game, and England have got a very good history of performing well in Hong Kong, so it will be great to try and go one stage further than they did last year,” he said. “However that will be a tough challenge.”

Talking about the squad, Hurry added: “This year we are taking a very young and exciting group of dynamic players.
“There are some potentially explosive players in this group who I will get the opportunity to work with out there. It’s a fanatical game where you don’t have a chance to get yourself in and you have to execute your skills from ball one, so it’s going to be hugely exciting for everyone involved.
“This is a very exiting opportunity because it allows me to put my name out there, but for me it’s more about working with these young and exciting players and what we can achieve together in what is recognised as a well-organised competition, which has traditionally been won by teams from Asia and the southern hemisphere countries.
“It will be nice to put a marker down and be involved with an England side that can bring this trophy home.”
