Somerset farmer targeted in machinery scam

A FARMER from Somerset has been targeted in a scam believed to have victims as far a field as Scotland.

The farmer had paid for an expensive piece of agricultural machinery but was told it was written off in an accident during haulage.

The machinery was never delivered and his money was not returned.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "The offender is currently on remand and being dealt with by Suffolk Police. "It is suspected he has been actively targeting the farming community using agricultural publications."
