Casimir, former winners of the Mid Somerset News & Media Battle of the Bands competition released their debut EP on Monday, March 4.

The four piece boy band stormed the Wells heat of the competition in 2009 and went through to emerge triumphant from the final. Their Indie sound has a range of influences including The Maccabees, Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, We Were Promised Jetpacks, We are Scientists, Jack Penate, Sunny Day Real Estate, Desaparecidos, Sigur Ros and Mount Kimbie.

The band was formed by schoolfriends Jed Hampson and Joey Edwards and saw several line-up changes before releasing Lucid on the Fear of Fiction label. Their video for the track Balancing Act, taken from their debut EP Not Mathematics was premiered by online by NME.

Casimir are on the longlist to play at this year's Glastonbury Festival and have made it to the last 120 bands out of 8,000. The judges' description of their performance on the Glastonbury Festival website was a "layered warm effort that would work well on the big stage".

Not Mathematics is out on the Fear of Fiction label and available to order from casimirband.com. They have described it as the "first proper music, serious adult band thing we've ever done".
