Somerset Rebels ready for Newcastle Diamonds double-header
Cases Somerset Rebels are ready for a bumper evening of speedway at the Oaktree Arena this evening with a double-header against Newcastle Diamonds.
Back-to-back meetings will be held at the Highbridge circuit, with the two sides contesting the first of the Premier League play-off matches and the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.
The first match, which will be the play-off encounter, will start at 7pm.
After a short break following the conclusion of that match, the two sides will meet again in the rescheduled League Cup semi-final first leg, which was rained off after five heats last Wednesday night.
"Whilst normally we would try to avoid double-headers, with Newcastle picking us in their play-off group as well as having to return for the restaging of the League Cup semi-final, then in this instance it made sense to utilise that option,” said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock.
“With the Diamonds scheduled to return here on Friday for that League Cup semi, then it did seem pointless to have them here one Friday only to have them having to travel back down a week or two later for the play-off match.
“We have tried to set the admission prices as fairly as possible, so that by using the re-admission and discount vouchers given out last Wednesday, the adult price of entry will be the same as a standard Friday night, and for those that were not here last Wednesday, they will still be receiving a discount on what would have been the normal price for two matches.”
Full admission prices will be £23 for adults, £20 for concessions and £1 for under-16s.
Rain-off readmission tickets and the £2 discount vouchers given out at last Wednesday’s match will both be valid for Friday’s double-header which, if both used, will reduce the price to £14 for adults, or £12.50 for concessions. Under-16 tickets remain at £1.
Season tickets are valid on the night, and the £2 discount voucher is only valid for Friday night's meeting.
Somerset and Newcastle will then do battle in another double-header in the North East on Sunday, with a 5pm start time.
After that, Leicester will visit the Oaktree Arena on Friday, October 5, for a play-off match.
The away match at Leicester has been provisionally scheduled for Saturday, October 13.
