Somerset Rebels fired up for midweek League Cup clash against Newcastle Diamonds
Cases Somerset Rebels are hoping for a bumper turnout at the Oaktree Arena on Wednesday night for the first leg of their League Cup semi-final against Newcastle Diamonds (7.30pm).
It is a rare midweek home date for the Rebels, who want their fans to play a major part in helping the side open up an advantage ahead of the second leg in the North East on Sunday, September 30.
“It goes without saying that we will be looking to build up a healthy lead come the end of Wednesday night with which to take with us when we go to Newcastle for the second leg,” said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock.
“So we really need all those Rebel fans out there to get along to the Oaktree Arena to cheer the boys on in that quest.

"An added bonus for those fans is that they will all receive that £2 discount voucher to be used when we stage our first home match in the Championship Play-Offs."
Somerset will be mindful of the league meeting between the two sides when they met at the Oaktree Arena back in July.
On that evening, Newcastle stormed into an 11-point lead by the halfway stage of the meeting, although the Rebels fought back in the second half to take the victory by a narrow three-point margin.
The Rebels will point to the fact that they were without two of their riders that night, using rider replacement for the then-injured Claus Vissing and Rohan Tungate as a guest replacement for Sam Masters.
With a full complement of fit riders for this Wednesday’s match, the hosts will be confident of being a different proposition than they were back in July.
All adults and concessions paying at the turnstiles on Wednesday night will receive a discount voucher, which can be used at the Rebels' first home group match in the play-offs - provisionally scheduled for Friday, September 28.
