Skiverton is hopeful of keeping McCarthy
Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton expects to have completed the paperwork to keep Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy at the club for another month before tonight’s League One visit to Tranmere Rovers.
The England Under-21 goalkeeper has been at Huish Park since the beginning of the season and had expressed a wish to extend his deal with the Glovers.

And Skiverton has said he will get plenty of warning when the Championship outfit want to recall McCarthy.
“We have been having an ongoing dialogue and it is not as if we have only been speaking to Reading once a month,” said Skiverton.
“We are in constant contact with them and I think, fingers crossed, we will get plenty of notice to find another keeper.
“We have Richard Martin on standby, who has been getting plenty of game time at Grays Athletic, just in case that happens.”
Skiverton admits Glovers’ fans may see a different approach from his side at Prenton Park.
The Yeovil gaffer is bidding to halt a poor run of form on the road, which has so far produced only one win this season.
“I think we have had at least 400 meetings on our away form,” said Skiverton. “We might be trying something different just to try and find a formula which works.
“Before, when we have picked the same team from Saturday to Tuesday, it has not quite worked, so I envisage using all my squad.
“We have got the personnel to go away and grind out a result. JP (Kalala) and Shaun (MacDonald) put in a hell of a defensive shift against Exeter, so we have the capabilities to do it but it is more of a mental thing, I believe, away from home.
“When you go away, you are up against some strong and resilient defending and a home crowd who are behind their side. We need to stand up to sides away from home and make sure we grind out a few results.
“For us, the disappointment this season is we have drawn too many games away from home, we have lost our fair share and there have been a couple where we should have ground a result out. The draws are what have cost us away from home.”
Skiverton, who expects Gavin Tomlin (groin) to be the only absentee from his squad for tonight’s trip to Merseyside, is also wary of the threat posed by Tranmere, who are still in the League One relegation zone.
Threat posed by Tranmere
“They have been putting in some really good performances at home,” said Skiverton. “I think they play similar to the way we do and can be a real handful.
“We know about (Ian) Thomas-Moore and (Terry) Gornell. Their front three are very lively and if you give Paul McLaren (in midfield) time on the ball, he can pass the ball all over the shop.
“When we played them earlier in the season, they did not have (Ian) Goodison at the back, so on their day they have five or six very good players.
“Les Parry (manager and former physio) has come in and done a terrific job for the club. With the cuts they have had, it has hit them hard but out of adversity you always get real strong togetherness and team spirit. We face a tough game on a difficult pitch and we will have to adjust our game accordingly.”
