“This is our way of saying thank you – we could not have got through such a difficult time without their lasting support.
“She would have been so unbelievably proud and thankful to everyone who has helped to get us to this figure.”
The impressive donation is the result of charity dinners, clothes sales and the endless support of friends, family and the local community who all got behind his fundraising activity.
Gill Auden, chief executive of Weston Hospicecare, said: “I had the great pleasure of attending a couple of Tony’s fundraising events and I can honestly say that I have never laughed so much in my life.
“What a truly remarkable way to remember his wife. We are extremely grateful to him and everyone who helped him on his fundraising journey.
“The donation from the Pamela Edwards Memorial Fund will contribute to the care of other local people and their families who are in need of the same support and care that Pam and Tony received last year.”
