Sherborne Town warned to be wary of ambitious FA Vase opposition
SHERBORNE Town will have to be wary of complacency in their FA Vase First Round tie against Exmouth Town on Saturday according to manager Jamie Manley.
Sherborne travel to Devon for the fixture after Qualifying Round wins in the competition against Toolstation Western League Division One rivals Keynsham Town and Premier Division outfit Bridport. But Manley is aware that Exmouth have also defeated superior opposition in the competition in Western League duo Elmore and Wells City.
He said of Sherborne's South West Peninsula League opponents: "It is not going to be an easy game. Exmouth have already beaten two teams of a higher standard so we have to be careful, but hopefully we have got enough to get the result.
"They have got Richard Pears (former Exeter City forward) as their manager and he will have them set up very strong."

Manley, who reached the last-32 stage of the cup with Sherborne as a player in the 2006-7 season, is not getting carried away with dreams of a Wembley final in the tournament but hopes that his team can progress in order to give the club a financial boost.
"The money will come in handy," he said. "The winner of the game will get £900 which would be very useful for the club. Cup games are a nice distraction and we would like to win a couple of games and go on some nice trips away. That is all we want really.
"I have played there before and it is a nice ground and it is good for the players to go to different places. I still get the same buzz as I did as a player. I still give it my all as a manager in every game, the same as I did when I was playing. We want to win these games."
Sherborne exited the Les Phillips Cup at the first hurdle last weekend as they were beaten 4-2 by Bristol outfit Cribbs Friends Life in the Preliminary Round of the tournament.
The Dorset visitors went ahead through Aaron Mead in the first half but let in three goals without reply to give themselves an uphill task. Tony Cunningham pulled a goal back but Western League newcomers Cribbs scored a fourth to confirm their progression.
Manley said: "We have got a few injuries at the moment so it was good to be able to give some of the lads a run out who have not been playing as much, but we still wanted to win the game.
"We created a lot of chances and could have scored more but we were sloppy at the other end. We have got some training lined up and hopefully we will be able to rectify the mistakes before Saturday."
