Shepton Mallet man denies beating girlfriend
A SHEPTON Mallet man accused of two assaults upon his former partner has had the case against him adjourned until the New Year.
Jamie Lewis Hunt, aged 21, of Douglas Drive, was due to stand trial before Somerset Magistrates this week charged with two counts of assaulting Kelly Thorne by beating her at Street on March 29 and 30 after denying both allegations.
However the court was told that a key witness was unable to attend after being admitted to hospital the previous day.
As a result prosecutor Judy Morris asked for the matter to be relisted for another date as the missing witness had vital evidence.
