Raymond McGovern, head teacher, said: "This was an endorsement of the excellent relationships that exist in the school, with everyone working together for the good of the students and their education.
"The overall good judgement is exactly the grading we gave ourselves when we completed our internal self-review and is a reflection of the excellent student attainment.
"However, the school is not complacent and has already started working on the recommendations in the inspection reports, so that it can secure an outstanding at its next inspection."
Mr McGovern, who will leave the school at Easter to move to Hertfordshire, praised the hard work and dedication of the staff and the students for their outstanding attitude to learning.
He said: "I will miss everyone at the school greatly, especially the sparkling young people here.
"I wished everyone at the school the very best for the future and I am confident that they will achieve an Outstanding grading at the next inspection, as everything is in place to make this possible.
"Our aim at Sexey's is to support the individual student to fulfil their potential both academically and socially.
"We believe that this is achieved by setting high standards of teaching, learning and care.
"The opportunity for social and personal development is the driving force of the school."
