Sex offender jailed for five years
A man from Paulton in Somerset has been jailed for five years after a jury convicted him of sexually abusing two youngsters. Stephen Barter, of Purnell Way, denied six sexual assaults on two girls. But a jury found the 55-year-old guilty of three assaults relating to both girls, by majority verdicts of ten to two. He was cleared on one charge, and the jury at Bristol Crown Court failed to agree verdicts on the remaining two.
