Sea, sand and 1950s style beach BBQ
The National Trust is holding a special 1950s barbecue at the Knoll Beach Café at Studland Beach in Dorset. This may be one of the last weekends to explore the four miles of golden sands stretching from South Haven Point to Old Harry Rocks. If the kids get bored of playing with the buckets, spades, you can set them challenges from the "50 things to do" list. Once they have finished exploring the shallow rock pools take them to nearby Corfe Castle which was the inspiration for Enid Blyton's Kirrin Castle in the Famous Five books, followed by the nostalgic barbecue.
