Axbridge Saxons U9s 2

Burnham Athletic U9s 1

With keeper John Anderson out of action, it was stand-in custodian Dan Corbett who set the standard with some fine early saves.

Axbridge started slowly and fell a goal behind early on, but it galvanised the home team, with centre-half Anya Hobson, right-back Millie Warren and left-back Will Helps in no mood to concede again.

Captain Dillon McLarney found his voice, but it was a tackle from Warren which saw the ball break to McLarney, who crossed to striker Sam Neal for the equaliser.

In the second half, Axbridge were under pressure, but a great move involving Helps and McLarney saw Jack Reed beat three defenders to score the winner.

Axbridge weathered the storm in the final minutes, with some great team defending and solid goalkeeping.
