Sat-nav error sees unscheduled stop
A group of French schoolchildren had an unscheduled stop in Wells this week – thanks to their coach drivers satellite navigation system.
A group from College Thalassa D'Erquy was travelling through the city when the electronic device sent the driver up Queen Street and round a corner that was too narrow for it.
A scaffold pole outside the St Margaret's Hospice Shop smashed through a window, showering the pupils with broken glass.
All the passengers were evacuated from the bus, and Mayor of Wells Christina Borastero took the whole party to Wells Town Hall for safety while the bus was recovered.
