Firearms response officer Paul Duncton, based at Taunton, said: "We are trying to target groups aged 12 to 16 and educate them about the dangers of imitation and real guns using photographs of various guns in circulation. We spoke to about 15 kids and they went through a gun quiz."
Yeovil's mayor, Phil Chandler, said: "Many groups including the street pastors, PCSOs, police and fire brigade all work together to make a great difference to the town.
"It's really nice to see so many people stopping and taking notice. The message is getting out that there are people there to help. It was really nice to see members of the Polish community as well."
South Somerset District Council chairman Ian Martin said: "Partnership working is the way to beat crime and anti-social behaviour. It's good that the community works together."
Nigel Gosney from Yeovil Fire Station said: "We want people in the town to engage with the fire service and receive fire safety advice. We also catered for the children who could look around the fire engine."
Krissy Dyer, 56, from Yeovil, said: "I like the leaflets, it's handy to have information about chains and locking doors.
"Events like this are a good thing, they should happen a bit more often."
