Ryvita mountain left on A303 roadside after lorry overturns at South Petherton roundabout

A mountain of Ryvitas has been left on the side of a busy A303 roundabout at South Petherton after a lorry overturned there.

The lorry ended up on its side between the exits to the garage on Harp Road and the Ilminster Bypass stretch of the road early yesterday afternoon.

The vehicle was carrying a load of Ryvita crackers and crispbreads, which had to be removed before the recovery operation could begin.

This morning, A303 motorists saw a huge pile of the goods stacked up on the roadside.

The roundabout was closed last night while a crane was used to recover the lorry.

Before that, police had cordoned off the vehicle so that rush-hour traffic was able to flow freely over the roundabout.
