Rusty's memorial match nets £2,500
MONEY raised at a charity cricket match organised in memory of former Frome firefighter Michael Rustell has been presented to the station commander at the fire station in Keyford.
Clive Carver, on behalf of the pub team who helped to arrange the match this month, presented a cheque for £2,500 to be given to the Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund, which provides rehabilitation and recuperation for current and retired firefighters and their families.
Money is still coming in and the total is expected to exceed £6,000, which is the combined total from the cricket match and another tournament organised by Beckington Cricket Club.
The cheque was presented to station commander Ian Humphreys.
Father of four Mr Rustell, 50, known as "Rusty" died, in a car crash in February.
The cricket match will become an annual event.
