Ruarri to headline first in new coastal tour project
Ruarri Joseph is to headline the first in a new series of outdoor summer shows under the Sea Level Tour. At the inaugural show on his home turf in Newquay, he will be supported by special guest Australian troubadour Ash Grunwald at Fistral Beach on Saturday, July 20.
Ruarri's fourth album, Brother, has just been relaunched with major label backing and looks set to be his most successful to date. Blues and beats artist Ash, who played several Westcountry festival bills in 2011, is returning armed with his sixth LP release, Trouble's Door. Joining them to open the evening will be up-and-coming acoustic singer and songwriter 17-year-old Polly Money from Falmouth, who has been making her mark on YouTube. The tour concept is to take singer songwriters to play surf and beach communities around the Westcountry and the south coast of the UK, before heading up to a London finale.
It's the stuff that band's fans have been waiting for
The Wonder Stuff are back on the road and booked in for a show on Sunday, April 14, at Exeter Phoenix. The West Midlands-based band gained a significant following in the late 1980s with two critically acclaimed albums, The Eight Legged Groove Machine and Hup. Mainstream chart success followed with their third album in 1991, which included the hits The Size of a Cow, and Dizzy, performed with Vic Reeves. The band split in 1994, but re-formed seven years later and continue to play classics as well as new material.
