Rotarians team up for tandem challenge
A DUO of Gillingham Rotarians are to put their teamwork to the test in a twin pedalpowered charity mission.
Peter Cook and Roland Martin are gearing up to embark upon a 100-mile tandem cycle ride around Dorset to raise money for Diabetes UK and Rotary charities.
The pair will set off from the Olive Bowl on Sunday, October 13, using minor roads and the Dorset Trailway where possible.
They are aiming to be back at the Olive Bowl in time for their Wednesday Rotary meeting.

But before lining up at the starting line the pair have been faced with the challenge of learning how to ride the tandem bicycle together.
Mr Martin said: "Cycling in a straight line was no problem, but starting off, stopping and negotiating corners was a different matter.
"After a few sessions we got the balancing act right, now we have to master the art of gear changing."
