Ross Batty and Chris Cook have both agreed contract extensions at Bath.

Hooker Batty Ross joined the club two years ago from Rotherham and has made 27 appearances, including scoring his debut try against Northampton two weeks ago. He will now be with the club for three more seasons, taking him through to 2015.

Bath Rugby Academy product Cook, a scrum half who represented England U20s so well at the Junior World Championships last year, has also impressed this season with his accurate and quick passing, energy and dynamism around the field. He has committed for two more years with Bath.

Director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan said: “They are both talented players, who have developed well over the past two years and have a lot to offer.

“I see them both as a very important part of the continued development of the first team squad. Ross is a very athletic, mobile forward, which is important to our style of play, and Chris has all the skills necessary for a top class scrum-half.

“They are both great members of the squad on and off field, so we are really pleased that they have committed themselves to Bath Rugby.”

Batty added: “It’s a great opportunity for me to be part of Bath Rugby, and to progress as a player down here in the West Country. Martin Haag (forwards coach) has helped me develop a lot over the last two years, and I think it’s a club that has got a massive future, with the squad, facilities and coaches we have.”

Cook said: “I’m really happy to have signed for two more years. I love this city and want to stay at the club as long as possible. We are building a really strong side, with both youth and experience and I couldn’t think of anywhere I‘d rather be.”

England prop Andrew Sheridan will make his comeback tonight five months after suffering a World Cup-ending injury in New Zealand.

Sheridan returns to the Sale front row for their Aviva Premiership clash against Worcester at Edgeley Park, his first club appearance since Good Friday.

He suffered a shoulder injury during England’s opening pool game against Argentina last September.

“The medical staff have done a great job getting him back in shape,” Sale head coach Tony Hanks said.

“It is testament to the hard work that Andrew has put in that he is able to return slightly ahead of schedule. He has been buzzing this week.”
