Rode man who died in A36 Warminster crash named
A man has died and two others have been injured in a spate of serious car crashes across Wiltshire.
The 51-year-old man, who was named last night as Michael Rustell, from Rode, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-car head-on collision on the A36 near Warminster.

The crash happened just after 5pm on Monday between the Cley Hill and Granada Services roundabouts to the south west of the town at Norridge Woods. Mr Rustell was driving a green Rover 400 towards Cley Hill when it was involved in a collision with a white VW Golf, driven by a 22-year-old from Melksham, travelling the other way.
Wiltshire’s air ambulance rushed to the scene and managed to make a landing there but the Rover’s driver had already been pronounced dead.

The main Bath to Salisbury road was closed until around midnight on Monday as police collision investigators scrutinised the scene, and yesterday they appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
The crash was the first of three attended by Wiltshire’s air ambulance in the space of 15 hours.
It flew north to airlift a man who was trapped in his car after it crashed into metal railings on the B4040 between the villages of Charlton and Minety at around 12.45am yesterday morning. The 45-year-old from nearby Malmesbury suffered serious leg injuries and a metal pole from the barrier next to a stream became wedged in his car.
He was freed by firefighters and flown to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance. Police, who closed the road until 6am yesterday morning, said the driver told them he had crashed after swerving to avoid another car on the road, and officers appealed for that driver, or any witnesses, to get in touch.
The Wiltshire air ambulance was back in the north of the county later yesterday morning after a man suffered serious injuries when his car crashed into a ditch between Kemble and Crudwell on the A429.
The green VW Golf crashed at the Culkerton crossroads close to Cotswold Airport, at around 10.20am, and the man was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital with serious injuries.
