Tickets have gone on sale for a headline show by teenage singer songwriter Jake Bugg at Plymouth Pavilions on Sunday, October 20. The show – part of his extensive UK tour – is being staged by ambitious Cornish promoters SW1 Productions, who put on sell-out gigs by Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran and Rizzle Kicks at the same venue last year.

Still only 18, Jake has already scored a number one with his platinum-selling, eponymous debut album; he was nominated in the British Breakthrough Artist category at this week's Brit Awards. Jake was acknowledged at the NME Awards for Best Solo Act and the prestigious Best Album.

His current UK outing ends with two headline shows at London's Shepherds Bush Empire. He recently announced that he will be appearing at the Reading and Leeds Festival this summer, and he'll be supporting The Stone Roses this year too.

A big star at Radio 1 and 6Music, Jake has also made appearances on Radio 2 and on Radio 4's flagship culture show Front Row. Sharp, observant and honest, his songs inhabit a unique world showcased by the scorching bluesy guitar-led first single Lightning Bolt, while new single Two Fingers boasts a swaggering chorus.

Odd couple aim to inform, educate and entertain

Gloriously quirky and hotly tipped electronic pop duo Public Service Broadcasting play three Westcountry shows next week – Exeter Phoenix on February 28, Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington on March 1 and the Mojo Rising Festival at The Poly in Falmouth on March 2.

The innovative partnership of corduroy-clad J Willgoose, Esq, pictured, and his faithful drumming companion, Wrigglesworth, operates in a land of old American public information films, archive footage and propaganda material, which underpins a sound combining live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics.

They release their debut album Inform – Educate – Entertain on May 6 on Test Card Recordings. This is preceded by a free download of their beefed-up reworking of old favourite New Dimensions In Sound.
