The former Rileys sports bar in Taunton will go under the hammer at auction next month.

The Station Road building closed its doors in November, leaving several town snooker, pool and darts teams without a home.

It will be one of 18 lots being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson at St Mellion International Resort in Cornwall on February 7.

The two-storey building comes with accompanying car park and yard, and will have a guide price of £125,000 to £150,000.

Graham Barton, auctioneer and regular on BBC1’s Homes Under The Hammer, said: “This is being sold on behalf of the receivers.

“Inside are all the things you would expect in an indoor sports hall, including match and championship snooker rooms.

“There is a darts zone, pool area, as well as a kitchen, bar and cloakroom facilities.

“It offers great potential for a variety of uses and is a well-known location in the town.”

A Clive Emson Auctioneers spokesman said the last use as a snooker hall with darts, pool, bars and a betting zone may be continued by a new owner, but added that other potential purchasers may have different commercial uses in mind.

Conversion to a residential block or demolition are other options, subject to obtaining the relevant permission, the spokesman added.

The auction will take place at St Mellion, starting at 11am on Thursday, February 7.
