SOUTH WEST GUITAR SHOW

Sunday, October 18 will be a day to remember for guitarists in the region as the South West Guitar Show opens its doors at Frome's Cheese and Grain.

The whole day will be filled with live demos and performances from a variety of special guests.

Many of the music industry's top manufacturers of guitars, amps, speakers, pedals, mics and accessories will be present including Ibanez, Rickenbacker, Dean, Hofner, Peerless, MusicMan, Fender, Paul Reed Smith, Marshall, Blackstar, Roland, Shure and Laney plus lots more.

They will have specialist staff on hand to answer all questions and demonstrate loads of the latest products.

Acoustic fans will find plenty to interest them from Tanglewood, Yamaha, Ibanez, LAG and Japanese handmade K. Yairi folk guitars and can enjoy a rare opportunity to get hands-on experience with these top quality instruments.

There will also be many ex demo and B stock bargains on sale.

Doors open at 10.30am and tickets cost £6 in advance or £10 on the door.

WALTER TROUT

On Saturday Frome's Cheese and Grain will rock to the music of the incredible Walter Trout Band.

Walter Trout's story is a remarkable one – from his humble beginnings to one of blues music's beloved interpreters.

His passion for music is just as great today as it was when he started his career as a teenager more than 35 years ago.

Years of touring with the likes of John Mayall, John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat have honed his unique style and dynamic stage performance.

In a BBC radio poll, Walter was ranked number six in the top 20 all-time guitarists, putting him with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page.

Both on record and on stage, he keeps the art of blues thriving.

His music is marked by his adept songwriting, strong vocals, searing guitar work and his ability to enhance the boundaries of one of music's oldest forms.

Tickets cost £14 in advance or £16on the door – which opens at 8pm.
