Revving up for a ride of folk rock excellence
Rev Hammer regards his music not so much as a passport to fame and fortune but as a ticket to ride.
The folk rock singer songwriter learned to play guitar and sing at the same time and spent 18 months performing on the streets before he dared stand on a stage.
Rev's debut album Industrial Sound and Magic was recorded in a cow shed in Essex, and his free backing band – Levellers – went on to make quite a name for themselves.
Now based in Devon, Rev has made his mark through writing, performance and various collaborations, notably on his pride and joy Freeborn John, a musical story about John Lilburne, England's first radical and unsung hero the English Civil War, which featured Levellers, Maddy Prior, New Model Army and Eddi Reader.
In a welcome home county show Rev will be in concert on Saturday, April 27 at the Palladium Club, Bideford (01237 478860).
