AVON Wildlife Trust has made a second bid to get planning permission for a wind turbine to provide power for its Folly Farm reserve at Stowey Sutton.

Bath and North East Somerset Council turned down an earlier application on the grounds that the turbine could harm the landscape and because it believed not enough evidence had been provided about the impact on wildlife.

The plan has been resubmitted to B&NES.

"We have now done monitoring and surveys to assess the impact," said a spokesman for the trust.

The 81ft tall turbine mast, with a wildlife-friendly cowl head, is being sponsored by Rolls-Royce as its contribution to the environmental learning centre at the 250-acre reserve in the Chew Valley.
