Ramble through city and focus on airport
Rodney Stoke and Draycott WI
At our September meeting we had a talk called Bath My Way, from Robert Tinckner.
This was not so much history of Bath, more a ramble through Bath. The talk was illustrated with some lovely slides of Bath and its surroundings. He started at Corsham Church and then went via the Victoria suspension bridge, Victoria Park, the Botanical Gardens and the Royal Crescent. He mentioned the Hansel and Gretel shop, full of cuckoo clocks, told us that the Museum of Bath at Work was well worth a visit and went on to mention the Jane Austen Centre, Poultney Bridge and the Holburne Museum. This was interspersed with funny tales of his adventures, such as being on a pleasure boat when it broke down in the weir.
We also had an interesting talk from our new village agent, who came and told us about her role.

At the October meeting Eileen Jackson gave a talk about Bristol Airport. The competition for a funny photo was won by Tricia Corrick, with Anna Dormer, second and Mary James, third. We have been to the Cider Barn, in Watchfield, and the Globe Inn, in Wells, for lunch. We are looking forward to a Winter Lunch, a Speaker's Preview, the Somerset Federation annual meeting and the WI skittles competition.
The next meeting is the annual meeting on November 1, in Draycott Memorial Hall, at 7.15pm. Our speaker will be John Dando whose talk will be called the Magic of Somerset Carnival.
