Radstock boss celebrates 25 years at Charltons World of Wood
Charltons World of Wood factory outlet manager Debbie Chivers has celebrated 25 years working for the company.
Born and brought up in Radstock, Mrs Chivers started her career with the business back in 1988 by helping out at the old craft shop but now concentrates on selling furniture.
She said: "I am really fortunate as I love my job. I suppose that I have always been very much a people person. I look to put customers at ease. Choosing furniture is a big deal. You have to live with your decisions for years or even a lifetime.
"When the public walks through our factory outlet door they are given a warm welcome and then left alone. Of course I am there to help, but there is little worse than trying to make a major decision with a member of the sales staff hovering. I make sure that coming to Charltons is a stress-free, positive experience."
Mrs Chivers has seen a great deal of change in Radstock over her working life and said that while the town had seen its ups and downs she had detected a real upward shift with new ideas and new investment.
Head of product and design at Charlton's, Ross Charlton, said the company was extremely lucky to have Mrs Chivers working for them.
He said: "She understands our customers and what they are looking for, as anyone will find when they walk through our door.
"Debbie also understands modern furniture and what works. I hope that she stays with us a further 25 years."
