Racial attack charges to be faced by pair
A MAN and woman have been ordered to stand trial at Taunton Crown Court accused of a racially motivated assault on a man in Glastonbury.
Malcolm Grant Brown, aged 40, of Leg Of Mutton Road, Glastonbury and Sarah Jayne Kenniston, aged 37, of Norlet Court, Glastonbury, appeared in the dock together before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.
They were jointly charged that on June 18 they assaulted Elijah King causing him actual bodily harm. Brown was further charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon, namely a hammer, in Manor House Road and damaging a Ford Focus car belonging to Mr King.
Both defendants entered not guilty pleas to all allegations against them and the magistrates refused to accept jurisdiction for the case ordering the defendants to stand trial at the crown court.
