THE ROTARY Club of Clevedon Yeo has raised more than £5,000 thanks to the organisation's fundraising event last autumn.

The founder of Meningitis UK, Steve Dayman MBE, attended the club's meeting on January 11 to receive a cheque for £5,300, which was raised as a result of a corporate race day and bucket collection at Chepstow Racecourse.

Approximately 100 members and guests attended the charity day and were treated to dinner and an afternoon of excitement which included an auction and a bucket collection.

Mr Dayman said: "Yet again a fabulous contribution towards our goal of finding vaccines for the prevalent strains of Meningitis."

"To visit again to receive this large cheque is a testament to the club's continued hard work for charity."
