RNAS Yeovilton helicopter crews get a taste of moorland life on Dartmoor
Dartmoor echoed to the sound of rotors as trainees from RNAS Yeovilton spent a week living on the moor, a far cry from the comfort of the Somerset base.
Sea King crews from 848 Naval Air Squadron were based at Okehampton Camp on the edge of the moor to learn how to operate in the field – just as their colleagues in 845 and 846 squadrons do supporting commando operations around the globe.
Lieutenant Commander Paul Barker, 848 Squadron’s senior engineer said: “The week was an overwhelming success.”
