Year 7 pupils at Midsomer Norton's two secondary schools have been given the chance to create their own community radio broadcasts.

Children from both Somervale and Norton Hill have been spending time at Somer Valley FM to find out how to make and produce their own shows.

It is the first time the station has worked with younger pupils from the schools.

Head teacher Alun Williams said: "Somervale and Norton Hill have had a very positive and productive relationship with Somer Valley FM.

"Students from both schools have benefited tremendously from being able to engage in real broadcasting in a fully functioning radio station.

"I know of no other school that has such excellent opportunities available for their children around radio broadcasting.

"I have also been impressed by the number of students who volunteer at the radio station outside of school hours along with many other local people.

"I am sure that our excellent working relationship with Somer Valley Radio will continue to go from strength to strength."
