Pupils Ghana go to Africa to forge links
A SCHOOL head teacher has called for businesses around south Somerset to back its partnership with Africa.
Preston School in Yeovil has established links with Harkmount Sinai Senior High School in Akropong in Ghana.
The school has already sent out computer equipment to Africa and hopes to send pupils as part of an exchange next year.
A ball to raise money to support the project will be next Friday.

Head teacher Tony Bloxham said the partnership was helping pupils develop business and creativity skills.
He said: "We felt very strongly that we wanted to establish a long-term relationship with a school in Africa.
"The school's international work is of benefit to every pupil. We are largely a mono-culture area but this partnership allows pupils to broaden their horizons and give them a sense of moral purpose.
"As a specialist business college we are always keen to enhance links with the business community.
"Partnerships such as our international link has seen pupils acquire and develop many important skills imperative and attractive to successful businesses.
"We have seen enterprise, creativity, and literacy improve alongside a greater understanding of globalisation and work value.
"We see this work as highly valuable and attractive to businesses and the students career and life goals."
The ball will be held at the Westland Leisure Complex Ballroom from 7pm to 1am. There will be live music, casino tables, a silent auction and a disco as well as a three-course meal.
