Psychiatric team's work is recognised
The Psychiatric Liaison team at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton has been awarded accreditation.
The accreditation, by the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (PLAN), measures teams against a set of service standards, including ease of referral, relationship with the wider hospital and other agencies, staffing and training. It is an optional scheme run by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Chuck Honeywell, psychiatric liaison nurse at Musgrove, said: "Through achieving this accreditation, we have built on the quality of the service the Psychiatric Liaison team provides to patients at Musgrove Park Hospital.
"As with all evolving services, there is always room for improvement.

The team had to conduct a self-review and were also subject to review from other psychiatric teams across the country, which took into account feedback from acute colleagues, service users and carers.
The final report on the psychiatric liaison team at Musgrove applauded the team's proactive approach and good working relationships, with patients describing the staff as "understanding, non-judgmental and supportive."
