A "Lenten Reflection" in the form of a one-man play entitled The Last Hours of Pontius Pilate written by the Radstock based playwright Ian Taylor will be performed at St Peter's Church, Camerton, tomorrow from 7.30pm.

St Peter's Church Special Events Committee consider themselves fortunate in securing the services of Manchester-based professional actor Bill Moore who will portray Pontius Pilate.

This is something of a coup for the small but hard working committee at St Peter's Church as Bill Moore is credited with appearances in Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Heartbeat.

That Bill Moore is prepared to appear at Camerton is in some way due to the fact that he is acquainted to Ian Taylor having lived in the same village in their early life.

Ian Taylor started to write for stage, radio and television with Tarantara! Tarantara! probably his best known play being staged in the West End and regularly all over the world.

Most of his plays are written from "real-life" experiences. The setting for The Last Hours of Pontius Pilate is a Roman villa in the Rhone Valley where Pontius Pilate in enforced "retirement", awaits a visit from Caligula, arguably the most cruel of all Roman Emperors.

He recalls that fateful encounter alone with the man Jesus in the Judgement Hall in Jerusalem and later in public when he sat himself in the Chair of Judgement.

Pilate waits, and reflects on his varied career in the Imperial Service.

The play has previously been broadcast as a production for Radio 4 with Joss Ackland in the role of Pilate.

Admission is £5 and this will include light refreshments.

Proceeds from the production with be shared equally between the based Bristol charity, HELP! supported by Ian and Pat Taylor that provides counselling for children and young persons of gifted ability that have suffered neglect or abuse and St Peter's Church Fabric Fund.
