Prime Minister convinced badger cull is the right way
David Cameron says he is “convinced” a cull of badgers to tackle tuberculosis in cattle is the right thing to do.
And the Prime Minister warned protesters against intimidating farmers backing two licensed “pilot” culls, one in West Somerset and another in West Gloucestershire.
His comments came as angry opponents of the cull protested outside the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham.
Speaking to regional newspaper journalists, the Prime Minister said yesterday: “I am convinced it’s the right policy. For years this issue has been dodged and ducked.

“You’ve got over 25,000 cattle being destroyed every year. The cost is running to £90 million a year. We are heading to spend £1 billion over a decade if we don’t grip this.”
Mr Cameron added: “I believe this is the right policy for healthy badgers as well as healthy cattle. It’s not good having badgers catching and dying of TB as well. It is the right policy. It is difficult.
“There shouldn’t be intimidation. This has been fairly, democratically, reasonably arrived at. It has been challenged. I think it has been done highly properly. Obviously they (opponents) have a right to protest, but they don’t have a right to intimidate.”
Culls are set to go ahead within weeks.

“The decision was 'fairly, democratically, reasonably' arrived at in the same way radical Cleric Abu Hamza's eventual deportation was. . Simply because dodgy lawyers exploited the system just as lawyers for the badgerists have.
Get used it.”

“Fortunately for this country David Cameron has a brain, and has had imparted on him a full understanding of these bacteria, unlike most badgerists. . And certainly not like the procession of pusillanimous Labour Prime ministers and agricultural ministers that have gone before him. . They all need to hope we can still stop this in time, because if we don't; when we have them all before the courts for dereliction of their ministerial duties, the Leveson Inquiry and the LIBOR interest rate scandal will seem like a walk in the park.
"It happens then as it does to physicians in the treatment of Consumption, which in the commencement is easy to cure and difficult to understand; but when it has neither been discovered in due time nor treated upon a proper principle, it becomes easy to understand and difficult to cure. The same thing happens in state affairs; by foreseeing them at a distance, which is only done by men of talents, the evils which might arise from them are soon cured; but when, from want of foresight, they are suffered to increase to such a height that they are perceptible to everyone, there is no longer any remedy."

“And how exactly has this decision been 'fairly, democratically, reasonably' arrived at when in opinion polls up to 95% of the general public are opposed to the cull, and the 10 year scientific study, which categorically stated that a cull is not the way forward, was rejected?
Doesn't sound like any definition of the words democracy or reasonable that I understand.”

“So basically Cameron in making this statement endorsing the cull has effectively and publically declared his resignation.”
