Prestigious awards for Somerset duo Pete Trego and Nick Compton
Somerset duo Pete Trego and Nick Compton have been recognised for their impressive seasons by each securing a prestigious award.
All-rounder Trego has been crowned the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s overall ‘MVP’ for the 2012 season, while batsman Compton was named the Cricket Writers’ Club’s county cricketer of the year.
The most valuable player award, which is sponsored by FTI, is updated throughout the season – and 31-year-old Trego finished 60 points clear of Kent’s Darren Stevens.
Trego took 50 LV= County Championship wickets for the first time in his career and also chipped in with 600 runs, while contributing 245 runs and 15 wickets in CB40 cricket.
