Prepare for Luke to lock your feet and jaw firmly to the floor
"Good music should lock your feet and jaw to the floor", says Luke Sital-Singh, who is heading to Cornwall to play a trio of shows this month.
On the evidence of his two beautifully crafted EPs and positive reviews of his live performances, it looks like such a feat isn't such a tough call for this hotly-tipped 25-year-old London troubadour.
Luke was born in New Malden, home territory of folk legend John Martyn. The youngest of three boys, he started playing violin aged 11, but soon picked up his brother's guitar. Citing Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Josh Ritter and Damien Rice as his major influences, Luke's sound is warm, immersive and compelling.
His first EP opens with the heart wrenching Fail For You layered with his own vocal harmonies. The track found a spot on ABC drama Grey's Anatomy in December 2012. His second EP, Old Flint, opens with the single Bottled Up Tight, which was playlisted on Radio 1 and featured in drama series The Vampire Diaries. Earlier this year he supported Martha Wainwright, Kodaline and Villagers and played SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas
Luke Sital Singh plays The Nightjar, Truro on October 25 (with George Ezra); The Taphouse, St Agnes on October 26 and The New Inn, Tywardreath on October 27.
