Clevedon Athletics Club's Debbie Powell won the LV40 category at the Dubai Marathon on her debut over the 26-mile distance.

Despite the race starting at 7am, Powell clocked 3hrs 17mins 57secs to finish 19th overall in the women's race, with 14 of those who finished ahead of her coming from renowned strong distance-running countries Kenya and Ethiopia.

Closer to home, Laura Croker was second in the FV24-30 category at the Moorland Run 10k race in 48:53.

Helen Ball was second FV40-49 in 52:03, while Andy Ewing finished in 59:23 and Andy Tancock in 64:33.

Meanwhile, Clevedon sent a host of runners to the January Prom Run in Weston, with two picking up wins in their category.
