Pop-Up Business School returns to Weston for a second year
The Pop-Up Business School will be in Weston-super-Mare next month. Sponsored by Alliance Homes and Knightstone Housing, 'Pop-Up' aims to give people the skills and confidence to start their own business.
It's free to attend and there is funding of up to £250 available to help people get their business ideas off the ground. The two-week course will run from 18-29 November at Weston College Conference Centre, Knightstone Road.
Over 75% of those who visited 'Pop-Up' last year have already started to make money from their business idea. Laura, from Worle, was made redundant and came to 'Pop-Up' looking for inspiration. She has now set up Bee Social Smart, which helps businesses with their online marketing.
Laura said: "Pop-Up has changed my life. My husband, family and friends feel like they have the old Laura back. I am back to being confident, fun and full of life. I can't wait to see what exciting things the future holds."
Michael Williams, Business Enterprise Manager at Alliance Homes, said: "It's all about putting the right foundations in place for people and businesses to be successful. Based on last year's feedback, I am confident that everyone who attends will take something away and it's all free."
Phil Barker, Into Work Programme Manager at Knightstone added: "Whether people are looking to take their first steps into business or want to improve on an idea they already have, the Pop-Up Business School provides the ideal environment to learn the skills and knowledge needed for success. We're really looking forward to seeing people from across the South West taking part in this initiative."
