Police seize hundreds of plants in Weston-super-Mare 'cannabis factory' house raid
Police seized more than 240 cannabis plants during a raid on a house in Weston-super-Mare today.
Officers discovered the plants, along with extensive cultivation equipment, after carrying out a search warrant at a property in Laburnum Road.

Neighbourhood beat manager, PC Simon Robinson, said: "Local people reported their suspicions about the house to us and we have acted on that.
"There were six large rooms and a loft full of plants, which were all destined for our streets.

"These factories, set up with sophisticated hydroponics equipment, are dangerous and the associated crime and anti-social behaviour that go with the cultivation of these drugs is detrimental to the community.
"We will not tolerate it in Weston-super-Mare and we will relentlessly pursue those who think they can produce and sell drugs in our community and put them before the courts to bring them to justice."
Police advise anyone who suspects a nearby property of being a cannabis factory not to approach the house, but to call 101.

This is a direct, 100%, absolute, without a doubt, result of prohibition. Cannabis is not illegal, it is 'controlled' (but currently by organised crime rather than the government) under the Misuse of Drugs Act. There is a massive demand for this marvellous plant and naturally a capitalist market has evolved to satisfy this demand. But it is an economy with no rules, no tax, no secure employment prospects. It could be so different. Come on Tory twerps - smell the bloody coffee!!”

Research shows it to be less harmful than caffeine, let alone alcohol and tobacco, which are the biggest killers in society.
Take it out of the criminals' hands. Make our streets safer. Protect the children. Allow responsible adult use. Limit the age to 18.
Remember, the only ID a drug dealer requires is a 20 pound note.”

“We need to stop this stupid and unwinnable war against cannabis. It is causing far more harm to our communities than it prevents. If we had a properly regulated system of production and supply we'd have no more illegal cannabis farms, instead we'd have thousands of new jobs. We'd have no more dealers on the streets. Cannabis would be available to adults only through licensed outlets and we'd have some control over the THC and CBD content.
Doctors would be able to prescribe one of the most effective medicines that has no serious side effects at all. At the moment the government has given GW Pharmaceuticals an illegal monopoly on cannabis so they make millions out of a medicine that you can grow in your greenhouse for virtually nothing.
If we introduced a legally regulated system we would solve nearly all the problems around cannabis. Science proves how much safer it is than tobacco, alcohol, prescription medicines and all other recreational drugs. If anyone does have a problem with it they could get help without having to confess to a crime.
