Police are still hunting a knife attacker wanted in connection with a double stabbing in Weston-super-Mare.

Two men were left with serious injuries after receiving stab wounds during an incident at a house in Alma Street on March 19.

One man, thought to be from London, sustained a fractured skull and the other man is believed to have suffered a punctured liver. The man who was stabbed in the head managed to stagger to ARC Taxis where he was helped by the rank's owners.

Police closed Alma Street, Burlington Street and the taxi rank to allow forensic search teams to examine the scene. Around 50 police officers were brought in to search for the suspect but he has not been found.

Superintendent Chris Weigold, head of policing operations for North Somerset, said: "Inquiries are continuing to help arrest the person responsible and we would appeal for anyone who has information about the incident to contact Weston-super-Mare CID on 0845 4567000.

"I would like to reassure people that this sort of incident is thankfully rare within Weston as levels of violence continue to fall across North Somerset through working with our partners."
