Evercreech Sunday XI

Evercreech finished the season with two friendly games in one day against Bristol Police.

The Police looked in trouble early on as wickets tumbled, with opening bowlers J Hulak (2-14) and D Poore (32-1) making J Price (9), N Papuca (7) and S Humphrey (5) suffer.

Things did not improve for the visitora when change bowlers P Chinnock (1-10) and E Reed (2-10) saw off N Hughes (18), N Pugh (0) and J Martin (3). Although the scoreboard had been ticking after 12 overs, the Police found themselves in trouble at 60-6.

The Police never looked comfortable and S Holloway (1-6), T Luckhurst (1-14), D Allan (2-3) and S Poore (0-8) finished the rout as C Hill (0) and C Belcher (3) suffered.

Only D Verel (23) got into double figures as the Police finished on 108 all out before both sides enjoyed a well-prepared tea.

Evercreech, though, seemed not to have set their concentration clocks and came out looking comfortable, but soon wobbled. C Hill bowled some excellent left-arm pace, but failed to take a wicket in his first spell.

A change in the bowling brought a change in fortune as Verel (2-13) and N Hughes (2-18) did away with the top order, B Franks (26), S Poore (5), J Hulak (2) and P Chinnock (2).

J Price (2-8) took the next two wickets, while Belcher (1-6) had a ball smacked off the legs of C Ough (0), only for it to go straight to square leg for an excellent catch.

Hill (2-14) returned and finished off the Evercreech innings with the final two wickets in three balls, leaving Evercreech on an unfortunate 88 all out.

The second game was a quickfire 12-over affair, with Evercreech giving the visitors a staggering 112 to chase, but the Police reached 113-7 off the last ball to clinch the victory.
