Police appeal after man knocked unconscious in Crewkerne robbery

A man was knocked unconscious during a robbery in Crewkerne on Friday, prompting a police appeal for information.

The robbery took place at 1.30am. Police say the victim was walking home and as he crossed a raised grass area at the junction of Tower Hill Road and Barn Street he was hit on the back of the head.

The assault knocked him unconscious. The man's wallet was found by a member of the public and returned to him but cash was missing.

A police spokesman said: "An investigation has begun and we would particularly like to speak to the member of the public who returned the wallet to the victim as they may have important information which could help us.
