Police appeal after North Perrott straw man set on fire

A LITTLE girl has been left heartbroken after a giant straw man she designed and helped make was burnt down by callous vandals.

The 12 foot high character was put together on the side of the road outside the North Perrott Farm Shop and Garden Centre and merrily greeted children on their way to Misterton First School.

It was the brainchild of Millie Dyer, 8 who decided she wanted to make a straw bale man of her own after seeing one on her drive home from a holiday in Cornwall.

Her uncle, Jonathan Hoskyns owner of the centre, his two daughters Harriet and Isabel along with other staff members dedicated an afternoon to making it last week.

But it was set ablaze after just a few days on Thursday, October 4, to the dismay of residents from many villages.

Police have issued an appeal for information. Contact 101.
