YOUNGSTERS in Nailsea rolled their sleeves up to help build a new climbing frame at a park in the town.

Children worked with contractor Touchwood, which designed the frame, to put the structure together on a section of parkland at Pound Lane, near Nailsea Fire Station. It will form part of a bigger overhaul of play facilities at the site.

The climbing equipment was funded under the Find Your Talent programme, with children involved in design.

Work on a separate project to create a new play area at Pound Lane also gets underway this week. A large "space net" will be put up, along with an aerial runway and zip wire. There will also be a basket swing, climbing frame, roundabout and swings.

Refurbishment of a play area at Trendlewood Way also gets underway this week. The project, costing £29,000, will see new equipment including a climbing frame, swings and an aerial runway installed at the park.

North Somerset Council deputy leader and executive member for parks, councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: "We have worked hard with local communities to find locations for play areas where there is a real need. These new facilities will provide an excellent opportunity for young people."
