Plan to light up artwork
Plans are under way to restore a unique piece of artwork in Frome town centre.
A strip of glass lit up by a fibre-optic cable incorporated in a stone wall in the Library Square was the work of artist Helga Watkins-Baker and Frome Community College students.
The art celebrated Frome's links with J W Singers and Sons as well as its industrial heritage and on a practical level to disguise the disused toilets behind.
However, it now needs minor repairs and the projector used to light the glass is broken.

Town centre manager at the time, Katy Duke, who instigated the artwork, now wants to reinstate the glass and to reopen what are known as the blue toilets.
She would like to see part of the building used as a sandwich bar or ice cream parlour and another section as a small gallery for artists.
At Frome Town Council's meeting last Wednesday councillor Mel Usher, who leads the council, commended the idea.
Mr Usher said: "There are least five derelict toilets in Frome, all of them owned by Mendip District Council."
The town council said Mendip had been approached with the idea of the town council taking some of them on but a positive response had yet been received.
