Photos: Barbie doll entrance at Wadham School prom night
Emily Pounde and Hannah Jagger arrived at the Wadham School prom in mint condition.
The Barbie girls turned a few heads at the event held at Haselbury Mill on Thursday.
Emily’s mum, Christine created the life-sized boxes despite having no previous carpentry experience.
She said: “It was something a bit different, I got some materials and just decided to have a go at making one.
"It took quite a bit of work, but after I’d made one, the second box didn’t take long at all.
"After all the feedback the girls’ entrance got, I’d say it was worth the effort.”
Pupils celebrated their time at the Crewkerne school on Thursday with a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed prom.
Inspired by the book and films, it featured golden ticket invitations and lollipop table numbers.
It was attended by 161 pupils and nearly 30 staff.
Prom organiser Peter Hopwood said: “It went off without a hitch, the students presented themselves brilliantly, continuing to show the school in a good light.”
The organising committee comprised Mr Hopwood, Nicola Carill, Poppy Pollitt, Ben Crofts, Megan Bessell, Chloe Hill, Aimee Price, Harriet Pugson, Emma Corr, Nadya Ochirova, Jasmine Clark, Holly Platts, Hannah Zebedee, Emily Taylor, Phoebe Bolan and Sally King.
Mr Hopwood said: “Arranging the prom was a challenge and I could not have done it without the help of the organising committee and the support received from everyone involved. A number of fundraising events were held over the past year to help raise money for it.
“A prom is the sort of event which lends itself to a theme like this, last year we did an Alice in Wonderland theme. We had some great feedback from the students.
“It was a successful evening and my only worry now is how to top it for next year.”
