Bath have extended the loan deal of scrum-half Peter Stringer until the end of the season, while two senior fowards have signed longer deals with the club.

Stringer, who has won 98 caps for Ireland, agreed a short-term move to the Recreation Ground in January after struggling for first team opportunities at Munster.

“Peter has been superb since he arrived, both on and off the field. He prepares himself exceptionally well and knows the game as well as anybody,” said Bath head coach Gary Gold.

Bath have secured longer contracts for lock Dave Attwood and tighhead prop David Wilson.

Wilson was in every England matchday squad for this year’s RBS 6 Nations.

Attwood said: “I am very happy to have extended my contract with the club. The opportunity to be coached by this team in this environment means that I don’t want to be anywhere else. We are on a journey, and we all believe that we will get to the top in time.”

Wilson added: “Bath has become home for me now and I love the club. Everything a professional needs to excel is here – from coaching to facilities – and I feel very excited to be at a club that has so much support and ambition. I wouldn’t be anywhere else.”

Gold said: “These boys are the players around whom you can build a squad. They are young, English, talented and extremely tough. That they were both so keen to be involved in what we are working towards here at Bath is a real endorsement of the culture we are looking to create.”
