Personal bests for runners
Cheddar Running Club
Some 11,000 people completed at the Bristol Half Marathon – and 12 of those were in Cheddar Running Club colours.
The first three home for the club also marked the day with personal best times.
Greg Brock dipped under the 1hr 25-min barrier to come in 221st place, followed by Alexander Kennedy in 1.28 and 426th place. Shane Roach celebrated his first race as a V40 by taking almost two minutes off his best time, coming home in 1.32 and 684th place.
The other Cheddar finishers were Jim Scott, Joe Tristram, Jack Rogers, Jo Burke, Phil Paton, Nigel Redman, Mikki Coates, Elizabeth Lem and Lee Woodland.
"This is the club's biggest ever turnout for a half marathon and shows the real strength in depth we have in the Club these days, from youngsters right through to senior veterans and across both ladies and men," said delighted Cheddar chairman Pete Hicks.
For anyone looking to keep their running going through the winter months, the club has training nights on Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 7pm from Kings of Wessex Leisure Centre.
"We have up to four different speed groups going out, which means that whatever level of runner you are, you'll be made really welcome," said Hicks.
